Go to my profile.
On one of them it should say right above a box that says url, and that's where you put in the url of the avatar. I believe.

For it to be added to your mini profile you still have to go to Nagini or Headmistress, but if just have everybody else know, then you tell everybody or put it as your signature.

Everyone should be able to place custom avatars in their profile, since the majority of you are staff. Non-staff members can't however because I've placed code on the site to disallow non-staff custom avi's.
