The three types of telescopes include: The Refracting telescope The Newtonian Telescopes and The Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescopes The Refracting telescope use lenses to gather light and focus it on a point. The first was built by GAlileo 400years go. More modern telescopes use an effect called chromatic abberration which make different wavelengths of light focus at different points. They make the best quality image. Newtonian Telescopes use a mirror to focus light from distant objects. These telescopes are reflectors, and was first developed by Issac Newton. A curved mirror was used to reflect light into a flat mirror. They might be in perfect collimation. Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescopes also use mirrors to fold the light path. These telescopes use a spherical pirmary mirror to focus parrallel rays, and bounce off to a convex mirror, which reflects the light back into the eyepiece or detector. Schmidt-Cassegain Telescopes parabolic primary mirror instead of the spherical but can cost more money to make. In conclusion the Refracting telescope uses lenses to gather light while the Newtonian Telescopes and Schmidt-Cassegain Telescopes use Mirrors. The Newtonian telescopes uses a flat mirror to bounce the light into the eyepiece or detector, while the Schmidt-Cassegain Telescopes use the secondary convex mirror to bounce the light into the eyepiece/ detector.

The three types of telescopes include:
~The Refracting telescope ~The Newtonian Telescopes ~The Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescopes
Commonly known as refractors, telescopes of this kind are used to examine the visible-light region of the electromagnetic spectrum. Typical uses include viewing the Moon, other objects of the solar system such as Jupiter and Mars, and double stars. The name refractor is derived from the term refraction, which is the bending of light when it passes from one medium to another of different density—e.g., from air to glass.
Newtonian telescopes (also known as catoptrics) usually use a concave parabolic primary mirror (longer focal ratios may use spherical primaries) to collect and focus incoming light onto a flat secondary (diagonal) mirror. This secondary mirror reflects the image out of an opening at the side of the main tube and into the eyepiece.
The Schmidt-Cassegrain is a design based on Bernhard Schmidt's Schmidt camera. As in the Schmidt camera this design uses a spherical primary mirror and a Schmidt corrector plate to correct for spherical aberration. From the Cassegrain, it inherits the convex secondary mirror, perforated primary mirror, and a final focal plane located behind the primary. Some designs add additional optical elements (such as field flatteners) near the focal plane.

-Dobsonian Telescopes Most Newtonian Telescopes have been supplied on equatorial mounts. The last few years have seen a new commercial telescope available on the market - the Dobsonian. A Dobsonian is a simple altazimuth mounted Newtonian telescope which is excellent for beginners and in large sizes is an economical "Light Bucket."
-Refractor Telescope Refractors (also known as dioptrics) are what the average person identifies with the word "telescope", a long, thin tube where light passes in a straight line from the front objective lens directly to the eyepiece at the opposite end of the tube
-Newtonian Reflector Telescope Newtonians (also known as catoptrics) usually use a concave parabolic primary mirror to collect and focus incoming light onto a flat secondary (diagonal) mirror that in turn reflects the image out of an opening at the side of the main tube and into the eyepiece.

The three types of telescopes include : - The Refracting telescope - The Newtonian Telescopes - The Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescopes
The Refracting telescope
The Refracting telescope uses lenses to gather light and focus it on a point. The first was built by GAlileo 400years go. More modern telescopes use an effect called chromatic abberration which make different wavelengths of light focus at different points. They make the best quality image.
Newtonian Telescopes
Newtonian Telescopes uses a mirror to focus light from distant objects. These telescopes are reflectors, and was first developed by Issac Newton. A curved mirror was used to reflect light into a flat mirror. They might be in perfect collimation.
Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescopes
Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescopes uses mirrors to fold the light path. These telescopes use a spherical pirmary mirror to focus parrallel rays, and bounce off to a convex mirror, which reflects the light back into the eyepiece or detector. Schmidt-Cassegain Telescopes parabolic primary mirror instead of the spherical but can cost more money to make.
In conclusion :
Refracting telescope uses lenses to gather light while the Newtonian Telescopes and Schmidt-Cassegain Telescopes use Mirrors. The Newtonian telescopes uses a flat mirror to bounce the light into the eyepiece or detector, while the Schmidt-Cassegain Telescopes use the secondary convex mirror to bounce the light into the eyepiece/ detector.
